Beteigeuze [ˌbetaɪ̯ˈɡ⁠ɔʏ̯⁠t͡sə] ( Anhören?/i), auch α Orionis, international Betelgeuse[7] (arabisch يد الجوزاء, DMG yad al-ǧauzāʾ, „Hand der Riesin“), ist ein Stern im Sternbild Orion. Er wird auch der Schulterstern des Orion genannt. Als Roter Überriese wird Beteigeuze seine Existenz als Supernova beenden.
